Eden Lake

Wow, this is some scary stuff. A bunch of hoodlums terrorize a couple. It's not all black and white. But the leader of the hoodlums, Brett, is definitely evil and the rest are followers who, without Brett, wouldn't do the things they do in the movie.

There is a moral in the story. Bad parents give bad kids.

This was the first movie I saw after SNOT and a few hours sleep. The movie was truly amazing but also quite rough on the early/empty stomache. There is a couple who goes a weekend camping at Eden Lake. Somewhat later, a group of young teenagers dropped by near the couple and made some loud music. Little bit later when the male confronts them, they laugh at him. That laughing quickly changes into vandalism and last into terrorizing, torturing and killing of the male. The woman escapes, but get's caught and escapes again later. When she think she is safe, she's not and that goes until the end of the movie.
It's hectic but wonderful set up. If you have a good stomache, i can adive you to see it.

when boy's tricks become manslaughter

After a bit of a slow start a good thriller of a small group of teenage kids terrorizing an unlucky couple. Social critique it seemed, since it was mentioned more than once that the main aggressor's dad was an ex-inmate. Then again, the yuppie-couple did some gruesome killing of their own. Self-defense you say? I guess that depends on your point of view...

Lord of the yobs

Not just your average terror at the lake story, this film consistently layers the story with social commentary on yobs and "misguided teenagers". As if a survival horror is not bleak enough on its own, the integration of this social critique makes it a downright pessimistic film and does leave you wondering about the human condition when the film is done. That's a pretty good result I reckon.
