Wat een ongelofelijke cliche/voorspelbare film was dit. Gebaseerd op een waargebeurd verhaal. Wat ik me afvraag is in hoeverre het verhaal ook daadwerkelijk is gebeurd, dan vooral met geesten die er rond lopen. Ik heb nog nooit een geest gezien en geloof er ook niet in. Mensen die die wel denken te zien, hebben volgens mijn theorie een paar aansluitingen in hun hersenen op dat ogenblik niet helemaal juist zitten, waardoor feitelijke en droombeelden door de hersenen als hetzelfde worden geintepreteerd. De oorzaken kunnen verschillend zijn zoals drugs, maar wellicht ook kanker zoals in deze film het geval was. Het valt me in ieder geval op dat het vaak mensen betreft die gelovig zijn. Maar goed, dat is mijn bescheiden mening.
Weer terugkomend op de film, ik vond het script en verhaal echt slecht. Als dit de feiten zijn, dan bevestigd dit helaas mijn stereotype beeld van Amerikanen (vooral oppervlakkigheid). Als het gebaseerd moet zijn op feiten, dan zou ik dit liever terugzien in een documentaire, dan in een film zoals deze. Een docu zou ik dan nog serieus nemen, deze film absoluut niet. ook de visual effects kon me niet echt boeien en vond ik heel standaard (als in 1 uit een dozijn). Ik heb dan ok bijna niets goeds aan te merken op deze film, behalve het acteerwerk, waarin de acteurs nog enigzins hun best deden om overtuigend over te komen.

"Based on the true story". Uh-huh. It's usually telling when a film takes itself so seriously. And it shows. A lot of fast cutting, heavy sound design, visual effects portraying ghosts, slamming doors and windows of course. That's all fine and dandy, the annoying thing is that it somehow wasn't that scary, backfiring and making the whole film look silly. Symbolic: we were laughing and freely commenting throughout the film.

I just typed ... but I sat back and let this film take me with it without asking...
Well without -many- questions perhaps, but (insert cocky voice) is it too much to ask for a fairly enjoyable movie? Waah, I didn't even get quality sleep! A mistuned piano, the usual special effects. BASED ON A TRUE STORY. Yawn.
99% of the people have a boring life in which 99% of the days are the same. That's ok. At least most of those true stories have the decency not to turn into a film. True doesn't equal Interesting. Definitely not Enjoyable.

A classic ghost movie (based on true events). It really belongs in AFFF. The movie is about a family who rents a house near the hospital where their son gets treatment. Unfortunately the house is a former morgue where seances where held and the spirits aren't happy. Link to wikipedia about the movie and the true events.
