Impressions Day 1

Finally a new AFFF or Imagine. We have waited a year for it. For this year I actually took days off and plan to see tons of movies. Overal the day was good. Too bad the openingsmovie was not as big as last year. The presentor/director of Imagine mentioned that the festival too has problems with the credit crisis. They have less sponsors and that is the main reason they had to shorten some parts (like NOT). Also the opening movie was quite sober. There were even some places left and the play room was quite small (compare to TS 1). Also no big magazine for the same reason. I am still thinking that there will be less people than last year.

I have watched the first 5 movies (10%) so there is still a long way to go. So far so good :-)

The last few days have been hectic since I was working on two short films, and with my brother becoming a father for the first time. I had barely enough time today to sort out the printing of our T-shirts, made my way to the Tuschinski Art House theatre, greet Geoffrey and then see my opening film of the festival.

Funny to see plenty of familiar faces, the extended AFFFF (family) consisting of old time volunteers, crew members and the usual festival attending suspects.

Right after ordering my first coffee I realized that I had conveniently forgotten that the in-house coffee is of a lousy quality, has the size of a thimble and costs €1.80... Methinks the Coffee Company will do some good business the coming ten days thanks to us.

I (re-)realized the positive thing about watching films during a festival: find a seat, chat a little, the lights dim and the opening titles of the film start. No adverts, no trailers, just you, the rest of the crowd and the film!

Still had to work today. Expected to procrastinate most of the time, but actually -worked-. Scary. Took me some time to get into the mood. Perchance I am still fluctuating a bit, not exactly in sync with dear AFFF yet. It'll happen.

Films so far... well, nothing impressive yet, really. I lack tidbits at the moment. I mean, we even had some kind of dinner: sandwiches and munchies. The audience was actively audible during a few films, wonder whether that will last.
