This movie reminded me of the Cyberpunk novels by Willian Gibson. In a near future people can fit themselves with nodes, a sort of interface to a worldwide network. The movie follows a young man who accidently causes the death of his father. He lives in the countryside and after his father's death he moves to Tijuana, a US border town in Mexico. There he fits himself a set of nodes so he can work in the US, virtually. Through the nodes and the big network he is driving a robot on a building site in San Diego. The border between the US and Mexico is firmly closed down with automated machineguns. He also meets a woman who writes a visual book made of her memories of their meetings. This book brings the young men closer to how his father died exactly.
