"Crime and punishment in psychoville".
Links: AFFF / imdb
Australian horror, quite stylized and leaning a lot on the sound design which in some cases works really well and at other moments is just plain gimmicky (high pitched white noise in moments where they want to make the audience feel uncomfortable).
The editing was a bit too sloppy for my taste, a dozen (unnecessary) jump cuts and in general evoking the feeling of "where have I seen this before, but then done better?".
My main critique on this film is that tries to incorporate several elements such as the butterfly and solar flares on a visual level and teenage angst and crime/retribution on a thematical level, but the film makers never really succeed in following through and delivering.
